Best Practices#

Password management is a critical part of your digital security. It can be hard to manage, but it does not have to be. If you follow these best practices, password management can become both easier and more secure:

Basics#

  1. Use a password manager, my personal recommendation is Bitwarden.
    1. Use a strong master password
    2. Use multi-factor authentication (Bitwarden guide).
  2. Use a unique, randomly generated password for each account.

Advanced#

  1. Use multi-factor authentication, like TOTPs, whenever possible (Bitwarden guide).
  2. Give emergency access to a trusted family member or friend (Bitwarden guide).
  3. Use a masked email service, like Fastmail (Bitwarden guide).
